On 11-12 June 2025, our representatives participated in the 23rd Congreso de Fundraising in Madrid. It is the largest fundraising congress in Spain, organised by the Asociación Española de Fundraising (AEFr). The event brought together nearly 600 participants from the non-profit sector and 45 speakers sharing their experiences and new trends in fundraising. The programme included 38 lectures, most of them in Spanish and 6 in English.
During the congress, EDC representatives took part in nine sessions, which provided a better understanding of the Spanish fundraising market and the current challenges facing non-profit organisations. Particularly valuable were the lectures on:
- building online strength as a tool for social change,
- effective strategies for securing large donations,
- communication that fosters and strengthens relationships with partners,
- combating misinformation in non-profit communication,
- innovative fundraising campaigns, such as activities for Gaza,
- the Spanish Red Cross’s experience in crisis management.
The congress is not only about learning about fundraising in Spain, but above all about establishing new relationships with representatives of non-profit organisations, foundations and fundraising agencies. Thanks to networking during coffee breaks, lunches and the official dinner, we were able to have many valuable conversations and exchange experiences that may result in future cooperation.
Conclusions from participation in the 23rd Congreso de Fundraising:
- Fundraising in Spain combines online and offline activities, focusing on their synergy.
- Personalisation of communication and building trust in the long term are of key importance.
- Technological innovations supporting fundraising are playing an increasingly important role.
Participating in the 23rd Congreso de Fundraising was a valuable experience for us and inspired us to further develop our fundraising activities. We would like to thank the organisers for their professional preparation of the event and the participants for their openness and inspiring conversations..
